5 – The Princess and the Pauper – Stars
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

I've wanted to crack that shell and light a fire inside of her since the first time I saw her, three years ago, but with her being her and me being me, I didn't think that would ever happen.
Our lives are polar opposites. She's the society maiden and I'm the beer drinking, golf playing, wings on Tuesday kind of guy. Yet, she always sparked a hunger in me.

Ty Boudreaux spends his days saving lives as a paramedic, but when he's off the clock the player has no shortage of women in his bed – the thing is, he's getting tired of the one-night stands and is looking to settle down a little. Unfortunately for him, the woman he has his sights set on seems unattainable at best...

AnnaBeth Bellaforte is a socialite who comes from a family with deep ties in Louisiana politics. She may live a lavish lifestyle, but it comes at a cost – family obligation and appearances rule her life and the weight of it all is crushing her, but there's doesn't seem to be any way out of it...

She comes from money, he does not.
He is blue collar, she is a southern blue blood princess.
The chemistry between them burns white hott but giving into it would be pointless, there is no future for them – is there?
Ty brings a side out of AnnaBeth she never knew existed and she loves it, but her family has plans for her, plans that don't include Ty.
They are from two different worlds but can they find common ground?
Does AnnaBeth have the courage to stand up to her family and fight for what she wants for once?
Would Ty even want her to or has too much damage been done?
Can the Princess and the Pauper ever really make it work or is there too much standing in their way?

Your family is wrong to expect you to go through with this and you're wrong for throwing away something with a man you care about for a man you don't, just to appease the family. Doing right by your family doesn't always have to mean forsaking yourself.”

It's not often I say this, but that was pretty damn close to perfect in my eyes. It was a fabulous blend of steam and angst, laughs and drama, swoon worthy moments and epic frustration, rounded out with a slew of amazing characters. But the thing that really set it all apart was the little role reversal. We're used to the guy being the one who can't commit for whatever reason, in this one our leading lady is the one breaking hearts. I kinda got where AB was coming from, she was drowning in family obligation and you could see it suffocating her, but at the same time I just wanted her to grow a backbone. With that said, I LOVED the direction her character took eventually. A hell on wheels vixen is one way to put it and she was as surprised by the change as I was. Ty was friggin amazing, not that he didn't have his bonehead moments too – he is a guy after all Lol – but it didn't take him too long to see what he had done and set out to fix it. He had a subtle vulnerability to him that was actually kinda heartbreaking to watch – he really was hurt by AB's actions and it did cause some deep rooted insecurities, which pissed him off as much as it upset him. The steamy scenes were off-the-charts hott, the chemistry between these two was undeniable even when they were fighting. You just never knew if they were gonna tear each other apart or start ripping clothes off – it was awesome. But I have to say, one of my absolute favorite parts was Ty's inner dialogue. He was having full on back and forth conversations/arguments with himself in that wicked head of his and I spent most of that time laughing my ass off. I can't believe this is the first Skye Turner book I have actually read. I have two books sitting on my kindle from her (Alluring Turmoil & Seduction) I just haven't gotten around to reading them yet and I am kicking my own ass for it now. If they are anything like this one I have no doubts I will love them. I can tell you she is officially on my radar now and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next.

somewhere between childhood and becoming a young woman, she lost herself. You've brought her back out.”
I'm not like the guys she's used to.”
“Thank god for that, boy! No, you are not like the pompous asses she's used to. You're so much better. You two have chemistry. You have passion. You have what it takes. What you have is real.”
