Blog Tour Review & Giveaway ~ Strange Bedfellows by Cardeno C

Strange Bedfellows
by Cardeno C

As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.
Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.
When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows

"Glad you decided to trust me”
“I'm not sure I do. But you made a good point about having enough ammunition already. And I really wanted to stay. Tell me I'm not making a mistake.”
The vulnerability in that question, the desire to trust, tore at Trevor's chest. He wrapped his arms around Ford and pressed his mouth to Ford's ear. “You're not making a mistake.”

Ford Hollingsworth comes from a long line of republicans – grandson of a governor, son to a senator – his whole life he has been surrounded by religion, bombarded with his family's morals, and bred to one day make it to the White House. His focus has always been his family and his career, he lives and breathes politics. Being alone has never really bothered him, he hasn't allowed it to since going into the kind of relationship that he really wants would not only bring scandal to his political career but his family would most likely turn their backs on him. Until a fling with a guy that makes him question everything turns his world on it's end.

Trevor Moga is the only child of the current democratic president and he has been openly gay for years. Raised in a family that is all about image and politics has made him more than a little jaded. He has known for awhile that relationships are not his thing and marriage is out of the question – he has never been shown an example of one he would want to be a part of so why bother. Love is messy and painful and he is too busy building his empire to want to put the work into a solid relationship so he limits himself to physical pleasure, nothing more. But all that changes when he meets a certain congressman.

When these two come together their chemistry is explosive and they instantly develop of friendship that tests the limits of both men. Can an openly gay man who despises politics really get involved with a closet case congressman who would always put him second to his career and keep him hidden in the shadows? Do they really have any control over the feelings that inevitably develop? Where do they go from here?

On paper, being with Trevor Moga should have been stressful and dangerous, but in reality, it was easier than being with anyone else. Maybe even easier than being alone because Trevor's lightheartedness rescued Ford from getting trapped in his own head.

Out of the handful of Cardeno C books I have now read, this very quickly became my favorite. If the political angle isn't your thing, have no fear – yes it is a pretty big part of the story, but it by no means rules the pages. This is first and foremost, a romance. I fell in love with both of these guys for very different reasons. Ford was the shy, slightly naive, sweetly cute half of the duo, and while his crippling fear of what others thought of him was frustrating at times, you couldn't help but want some happiness for him. Trevor was the dirty talkin dominant half that always left you trembling with lust but wanting to hug him at the same time. No matter how jaded he was toward love and relationships, the guy really just wanted someone to put him first for a change and never thought he would find it. He was never afraid to go after what he wanted and he went to great lengths to take care of those he held closest to him. He was the type of guy who would fly across the country at the drop of a hat just because the man he was falling for was sad, or having a bad day. The sex was smokin hott, though I wouldn't have minded a bit more of it – but that is just because I'm a dirty girl at heart and the chemistry between these two was off-the-charts. It the end, this journey was well worth the read and one I would recommend t any and all M/M romance lovers.

You're a catch Trevor. You're gorgeous and brilliant and the nicest person I've ever met. I'm not sure what I did to get your attention.”
“You have a great ass.”
“You are not with me because of my butt.”
“No, I'm not. I like your dick too.”
“Stop it!”
“Fine. You're loyal and honest to your core. You're smart and driven. You're sweet and sexy. And I promise, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to other guys, but if you're ever concerned, remind me and I'll show you how much I mean it.”

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Cardeno's Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, "You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day."
