FUBAR, it means fucked up beyond all recognition. That's what my life has always been. Here I am, a war veteran, and I need a dog to calm me down. I've killed people, but I can't even tell my own parents I'm gay. If that doesn't define FUBAR, than I don't know what does.”
“Maybe we're more alike than we thought.”

Jacob Daxton ~Dax~ is an Army man who has just returned home for good, but not without a few scars. Suffering from PTSD, in desperate need of breaking away from his family who doesn't know he's gay and discovering exactly who he is, he moves to California to stay with his best friend Chloe. Trying to find his place in the world and learning how to deal with his anxieties, he finds himself getting ink for the very first time and putting himself in the path of the man who will change his life in ways he never expected.

Beckett Ridge ~Beck~ has demons of his own that he has spent a lifetime fighting. He has never really done the whole relationship thing, not that he was really avoiding it, he has just never found anyone who sparks that interest in him... until he meets Dax. Right from the start he feels a connection to the soldier who is clearly suffering, they are both surprised by the calming effect that Beck seems to have over Dax but the timing couldn't be more wrong for either of them; with Dax trying to find his footing post-war, and Beck currently going through a family crisis that will irrevocably change his world as he knows it. Starting a new relationship now, in the midst of everything they have going on, seems like it would be doomed from the start-but what if they are looking at it all wrong. What if maybe they are exactly what the other needs-can they risk it?

The charged air around us lets Beck and I know that something significant has happened between us. And it's nothing that I can deny.
He calmed me out of an attack.
He stopped my anxiety.
With a soft stroke upon my skin, and a deep, concerned stare, he kept my demons at bay.

This book was amazing, there really is no other way to describe it. Everything just felt so real, and raw, it was impossible not to connect with these characters. They have both suffered so much in life, all you wanted was for them to find some peace and hopefully some happiness. The attraction between the two was clear right from the start-it jumped off the pages, it was hott and sexy, yet sweet and innocent and at times even a little funny. The sexy times were incredibly well done and not too graphic, although that wouldn't have bothered me personally-for me, the raunchier it is the happier I am... but that's just me. Here you have these two tough-as-nails Alpha males, but when it came down to it, one of them easily fell into a more submissive role. It was fascinating to watch. They were just completely different men with each other than they were with anyone else. But all that sexy aside, it was their emotional connection that won me over. They both helped each other heal in ways they never though possible, but that doesn't mean they weren't without problems. The main difference between this M/M romance, and what I have found in most M/F romances, is you have half the unnecessary drama but twice the stubborn male egos. I can't honestly say which is worse. In this book, there was a point where they just couldn't see past their pride long enough to pull their collective heads outta their asses and just go after what they wanted. It was frustrating as hell but at least I saw where they were coming from. I even found myself not skimming but speed-reading at one point for no other reason than an insane desire to see what was coming next. There were some twists thrown in here I never saw coming. There really wasn't much I could complain about, from start to finish I loved everything about this and found it damn near impossible to put down. Melissa Collins has certainly landed herself on my M/M One-Click-Addiction List one blush, giggle, and tear at a time with these fantastic guys and I cannot wait to see what she bring us next.

I need him to calm me; he needs me to steady him.
I need him to rouse me back to life; he needs me to remind him that his is a good life, not one of meaningless nothingness.

Who would you become if you lost the only person who ever mattered?

For twenty-six year old Dylan Hopkins, the answer is easy. He’s become no one. Memories of the happier times are all he has left as he finds himself meandering numbly through his now dull life. Though he cares about his work and family dearly, he’s yet to let himself find love again. Afraid of letting go of what he once had, Dylan chooses to keep his heart buried, where it belongs, having died a long time ago.
Conner Michelson is about to change everything Dylan knows. He’s every bit the bad boy persona - tatted up, ex-MMA fighter, but after an injury leaves him unable to fight, he has to rethink his goals. Having just opened his own gym, Conner can cross his first major life accomplishment off his very short list. Next up: find a man he can settle down with and build a family. Seems simple enough - a dream most people have, but when he meets Dylan, his carefree, easy-going life is thrown into a tailspin.
Determined to keep Dylan in his life, Conner vows to resurrect Dylan's long ago buried heart and let love live once more.

Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.

Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
