Keanu Pov

Do you want to come join us, Keanu? I just realized you were sitting over here by yourself.”
I look over at Slade and then back over at Phoenix. “So, kids, what’s up with you two?” OKAY, so I’m starting to slur a little.
Sounds like you’ve had enough alcohol for the night,” Phoenix says.
Slade grunts and pretends he’s busy, wiping the bar down, even though he has wiped the same place in front of Phoenix several times. Phoenix turns her back on Slade and aims her boobies in my face, which I think is funny, so I start getting that drunk man-giggle going. Wanting to annoy Slade, she pretends I’m not being a little school boy, but she’s doing it with the wrong person. I am not getting in between those two.
Slade clears his throat. “Is there an order you’d like to put in for you and your friends?” The friends bit is said not so friendly.
Oh, hey, Slade. I didn’t see you there,” she quips over her shoulder at him.
How could she not see him? He’s huge. I think I’m seeing two of him, which makes me chuckle.
I’ll be right with you. Keanu and I are talking.”
Ooooh, she did not just use me to make Slade wait. On that note, I decide I shall move on home and slam my hand down a little too hard on the bar.
Okay, guys, sorry to be a pooper, but I’m heading on home, and I will leave you two to whatever this is you two are doing.” I lean over and give Phoenix a kiss on the cheek and catch the possessive glare being directed at me from Slade. “I think I will call a cab.”
I’ll do it for you. You go wait out front, and there will be one with you shortly,” Slade growls out to me.
Somebody is a bit grouchy.
Thanks, bro. Enjoy the rest of your night, and same to you, too, Phoenix.” I shake Slade’s hand and head off to take a piss before I leave.
I’m wearing the doppelganger tonight, so I’m a bit slower with taking a leak. After what happened with Levi today, something inside me just wanted to make me feel a bit more normal tonight, so I chose to wear the doppelganger prosthetic under my loose fitting long sleeved t-shirt. I should have fought the insecurities which had decided to rear their ugly head and just worn the ‘big gun.’ Sometimes, I let them creep up on me and take over then wonder if I’m whole enough for somebody to love me.
I zip my pants up and think, Fuck it! I’m quite a catch. Then I have another chuckle to myself.
I head on out, yelling goodbye to Slade as I leave and waving to Phoenix.
Slade raises one arm in the air to wave at me yet doesn’t take his eyes off Phoenix, whom he seems to be having a heated discussion with. Those two kids need to just give into each other.
Almost as soon as I walk outside, a cab pulls up, and he calls out to me through his open window. “Are you Keanu?”
I move towards the back passenger door. “The one and only.”

~Spoiler FREE Review~

she has had something happen to her that has put her in this position. If we all ignored somebody in need... Well, I don't want to be that person. I know I can't help everybody, but I can try to help Hope. Besides, if I look the other way, her life will only head in one direction.

When Hope Walker finds herself in Ocean Beach, she never could have anticipated what she would find there...

Ajax is a street performer and Hope's new-found friend/protector, together they survive the streets of Ocean Beach. He lives life by his own rules, by his own standards, and has no desire to change that. Like everyone else, he has his own story to tell but he's not in a sharing mood...

Keanu Lee deals with the hand life dealt him through humor, a humor not many understand outside of his motley crew of friends. He never could have expected that a night out would end in another drastic twist in his life...

Everyday is a battle of guilt for Faith as she comes to terms with not being there for these guys for the last six years. But she is determined to fix that. She is here for them now and she is not going anywhere. When she first meets Hope, she sees a girl who is lost. She wants nothing more than to help her and learn her story, but what she never saw coming was how much Hope would teach them...

I'm quite surprised at Retro-the-Love-Guru.
What? I'm the first man down, so I come with a whole pile of newfound wisdom into these matters.”

This fab group of characters and the journey they are taking us on continues to surprise me one page at a time. Keanu really stole the show this time around with his amazing ability to forgive and see the best in people, no matter their circumstances or the choices they make. As with the first book, A Little Faith, we once again jump POV's throughout the book, making our way into the heads of all characters involved, as well as a few new ones, and I just LOVE that Emma chooses to write the books in this fashion. It's unique and it truly gives us a chance to witness first hand the journey that these people are taking not only as individuals, but as the close-knit family that they are. You can really feel the love they all have for each other, the unwavering support and loyalty, and the hope that they can all someday find the peace and happiness they truly deserve. I am going to have to keep things a bit vague here as Ms. James is a big fan of surprises and twists that you really just have to experience along with the characters in order to enjoy the full experience as you were meant to. These characters have quite easily burrowed their way into my heart and I just can't get them out of my head. They all have their own unique characteristics that will draw you in and hold you there as you laugh with them, cry with them, hope with them, and dream with them. It is an amazing experience. But I have to admit that from the beginning, there is one character in particular that has wholly captured my heart and I just can't get enough of him or his story-Text....swoon. I really do love that man, lust for that man, have the very strong urge to hug that man, and desperately want some healing for that man. He makes my heart bleed, break, and swell, all at the same time. I just need more, more, MORE OF HIM, and soon. I can admit that after I read this, I went back to book one and re-read all of his chapters, and I have no shame in telling you this. My Text obsession aside- I just can't get enough of this series, these characters, or this author. Emma James has stolen my heart and my sanity and seems perfectly content holding onto them for awhile. And since she likes to leave me with my jaw on the floor, I will once again be climbing the walls like a psychotic spider-monkey drooling for the next installment.

She has to be wondering what's going on in my head right now, and funnily enough, I'm wondering the same about her. I can see the way she's searching my eyes, trying to see inside my soul.
What will it take to make you talk to me?”
