5- Fascinating, Unique & Fast-Paced World -Stars
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

A hunter become hunted to correct the past.
To return once again they must first breach the gate. It's the price they must pay to claim their true mates.
~The Pythian Scrolls

Jondre Vengelys had to watch as all seven of her brothers jumped through the banishment portal suffering an overwhelming sense of loss and helplessness. Now she is faced with am immortal lifetime never knowing if they will someday be returned to her.

Cyrenna broke the one rule she was to follow by the Oracle and was ripped out of Tynan's arms with no idea if she was even able to get through to him. With her one chance at a future with her match-mate gone, she is left to wonder what she will do now or if she even has a choice in the matter.

The Vengelys are back... sort of. Locked away in a tower at the mercy of the God, they are divided with half of them having no memories of their time before the lives they led on another plane during their banishment. Tynan now has knowledge of his match-mate, who she is and what she has been through to get to him, with no way of knowing where she is now and how to get to her.

War against the Eupion rages on; lines will be crossed, lives will be lost and alliances will change. Match-mates are revealed and nothing will ever be the same. With so much at stake will the Vengelys figure a way out of the tower and back to their family and loved ones before there is nothing left to return to? And after being gone so long, what exactly will they be returning to?

My sweet Tynan, whatever lies beyond this place, I will love you there as well.
It is my hope. It is my vow. It is my last thought.

I loved being back in this fascinating world Aedan has created and was not disappointed. It's been awhile since I read the last book and this one picks right back up but it didn't take me long to fall right back under his spell. I would definitely recommend reading book one first or you WILL suffer an immense amount of confusion as with this book we re-enter an already established and complex world. We take on a much larger group of POV's in this one which I actually loved even if it took time away from Tynan and Cyrenna. There is just so much going on that jumping around from person to person made it easier to keep up and we get the added bonus of getting up close and personal with an arsenal of new and unique characters. Plus, with the Vengelys locked away in a tower and Cyrenna's future so uncertain, there really wouldn't have been much to the story if we would have stuck with just them. What I found to be the most interesting was that even with everything go on, and so many characters, a lot of it tied together-even if we didn't realize it right away. It was another fantastic addition to an already fab series and we are left with so many questions and uncertainties waiting to be explained in the next book-I will be climbing the wall waiting to see where the funtastic Aedan Byrnes takes us next.

Do not be afraid of the future. Be afraid of repeating the past.

Through the Oracle's Mist
Vengelys Book I
by Aedan Byrnes

Cyrenna thought she died the day she watched Tynan and his brothers jump through the banishment portal in an act of solidarity with Rigor. Little did she know that it would be the first of many deaths she would experience in her quest to claim his heart. She would surrender not only her immortal soul, but a mortal one repeatedly. Through a deal with the great Oracle, she has multiple mortal lifetimes to change the direction of her future and have a chance with Tynan. From the GenPei War in Japan and the Silk Road west, to Cromwell, the Three Kingdoms and modern times, she lives and dies repeatedly hoping to get her heart’s desire.
Near the end, she makes a misstep, breaks one of the rules of her covenant with the Oracle, and cannot return. The burden falls to Tynan and everything she was able to share with him to that point. The only thing that is absolute is her fervent hope that he will come, but there’s one big problem. Through it all, he doesn’t so much as know her name.

There is no simple description for Aedan Byrnes.
Obsessive, dreamer, reclusive, compulsive, outdoorsman and wordsmith would be among the list if one were started. The displaced Gael lives in the upper Midwest with family between jaunts wherever the road takes him. A frequent traveler, he is as likely to be found rock climbing or spelunking as sitting fireside dreaming or aimlessly floating away.

A lifelong lover of words and writing, he claims a diverse reading appetite and his writing reflects the myriad
influences. A self-proclaimed ‘reader’s writer’, he looks for the emotional and the sensory in word combinations, not just the visceral comprehension of phrases in the stories he crafts and his love of all things literary shines through. The 'Eclectic Bard' enjoys the special magick of storytelling, those who embrace the challenge of writing, and the dreamers who get whisked away by the words making the journey worth taking.
