Learning to love is the easy part…
As a young woman, Kate Landry trusted the wrong man, and she paid dearly for her naiveté. Alone, pregnant and destitute, she survived by the sheer force of her will. Now forty-two, Kate has made a good living for herself and her daughter as the owner of the Bluebird Saloon. But she’s forgotten how to live. That is until he comes into her bar…
Liam St. James loved a girl once. And only once. After an accident paralyzed her, she didn’t trust he would continue to love her. Brokenhearted, Liam left and soon discovered a world where women did trust him—to be their sexual Dominant. He plays out the scenes masterfully, but the unexpected request from the stoic bar owner will pose his greatest challenge yet…
Kate and Liam embark on a journey to uncover repressed urges and, in the process, they discover new desires. They also fall in love with one another. But when you’ve been shattered as badly as they have by mistrust, deceit and abuse, loving is easy. Trusting is harder, if not impossible, especially when the heart is involved…
Shattered Trust is a BDSM romance. It contains explicit language and graphic love scenes, including bondage, domination, spanking, whipping and multiple partners. It is intended for mature readers only.

For years—years—she’d fought her internal opinion that she was a slut. A whore. She wasn’t. She was a good person. A person worthy of love and respect.
But was she? Stripping for Liam, a man she barely knew, didn’t classify her as admirable. Tears filled her eyes. She wrapped her arms across her breasts, her head bowed.
“Why did you stop?” Liam’s question echoed in the quiet room.
“I…I can’t do this.”
She sniffled. “I just can’t.”
“That’s the answer a child would give.” Censure hardened his voice. “Look at me.”
Shuffling her feet, she turned.
He sat forward in the chair, his elbows braced on his knees. Tension crackled the air as his reproachful gaze bore into hers. She shook so hard, it was a wonder she stayed standing.
“Part of your problem is that you’re thinking too much.” His words stung like ice chips. “It’s not your job to think, but to do. To do as I say. I’m here because of you. If you want this to stop, if you don’t trust me, you know what to say. I’ll leave and we’ll be done. Otherwise, uncross your arms and continue.”
Fear clutched her heart. Fear of continuing? No. Fear that all…this would end. She’d only just begun…could she so easily abandon her pursuit for some semblance of normalcy in her life? Or was she prepared to spend the rest of her days alone?
Like dead weight, her arms fell to her sides.

~this review may contain minor spoilers~
For more than two decades, Kate had built not just a wall, but a fortress around herself. And iron tank that no one, save Sedona, had breached. And now, in less than sixty seconds, she was waxing poetic about a stranger from “across a crowded room?” And a younger man to boot. What was wrong with her?
Kate Landry gave her trust to the wrong man once and it nearly destroyed her; completely alone, young, scared and pregnant, she did what she had to in order to care for and raise her child. Now in her forties, with her daughter Sedona all grown and the owner of a popular bar in Texas, she can admit that she made a pretty decent life for herself against all odds. The only thing missing from her life is men, romance, and intimacy of any kind; she knows this but does not miss it, she could never see herself opening up to another man and giving anyone any kind of power over her... until the day he walks into her bar and everything she has been missing, all the secret urges and desires that she buried long ago, come crashing into her.
Liam St. James is no stranger to heartbreak; he loved a girl once but a tragic accident caused her to force him out of her life breaking any trust he ever had in love. He now drifts through life one day at a time, not looking for anything to tie him to one place for any length of time. The only real pleasure he gets is when he is in his element as a Dom; the scenes he plays out with a willing sub is all he needs to satisfy his urges and keep any messy emotions out of the equation. Until he meets her and she makes an offer he knows he should refuse, but just can't.
He'd be lying if he said he wasn't attracted to Kate. With her shoulder-length hair so perfect for yanking and her pert ass so perfect for spanking and her lips so perfect for sucking his cock, she possessed all the physical attributes he enjoyed in a bottom.
Helping Kate to rediscover her sexual urges, and feel comfortable enough to give herself over to man again, becomes his focus. The more time they spend together, the more emotion inevitably gets involved even though they both try their hardest to fight it off. Turns out, falling in love is the easy part; but is there ever any real hope for a future when the two people involved are incapable of trust? Will these two damaged souls be able to help each other heal and maybe learn to trust again? After all, what is love without trust?
his nefarious side rubbed it's maniacal hands together. He'd find out hard, fast and in a fucking hurry if his little kitten was into playing. All Liam needed to do was unleash the beast.
I have to admit, this book took me by surprise. Based on the synopsis, I was just expecting a lot of hott sex and maybe some angst... what we get is so much more. There is a lot about Kate that we learn as we go on and it really helps us to understand why she is so leery to trust again, even if I found it a bit frustrating at times. But Liam, sweet sweet sexy Liam, was the most patient man and exactly what she needed-even if he fought a little too hard to keep himself closed off emotionally. The aftercare he showed her after a scene was breathtaking and showed a depth to him we wouldn't otherwise see. This was definitely a slow-burn romance; there was no insta-love, and only minor insta-lust, our couple doesn't even have actual sex till three quarters of the way through the book, but that doesn't mean that the naked time they did spend together prior to that was any less hott. Liam sure knows how to handle his woman, but rushing things in this particular story wouldn't have made sense and would have taken away from the growth these two needed to make. I personally believed it all played out pretty perfectly. All in all, it was an pretty intense book that definitely took me by surprise and I would be lying if I said I didn't love that. Ms. Lynda has secured her spot on my One-Click-Addiction List with this one and I can't wait to see what she brings us next.
She felt so adored, so worshipped.
The men she'd known had only ever taken from her. They never gave. But Liam was giving to her. He'd always given her so much. More than she could ever hope to repay.
