You have one of the most captivating faces I've ever seen. If I could, I would memorize every angle of your face. Capturing them to the best of my abilities, even though no matter how hard I try I wouldn't be able to fully establish your every alluring detail. It would be my bane, with you being my savior. Will you model for me?”

~Katie Jones moved back to her small home town in Kansas after fleeing from her abusive, alcoholic husband. She is now a divorced waitress at Bud's Diner with more baggage than an Airport lost & found. She doesn't believe in love and thinks love-at-first-sight is reserved for fairytales; until he walks through the diner doors late one night and changes everything with one small proposal...

~Jacob Richmond is an artist looking for inspiration when he lands in small town Kansas. What he wasn't prepared for was the damaged redheaded waitress with the fact of an angel that took his breath away. He is captivated by her beauty and the pain in her eyes that she desperately tries to hide. He becomes consumed with a desire to paint her...among other things, and comes up with a proposal...

~When they come together the chemistry is explosive. Jacob was looking for inspiration, but finds so much more. Katie was looking for an escape, a way to live again, and finds her heart beating again for the first time in a long time. He knows all her secrets and wants her anyway, can she open herself up again and trust that he won't hurt her? What happens when Jacob's not-so-distant past comes crashing into their passionate bubble, revealing secrets that could destroy everything before he has a chance to explain? Does Katie have it in her heart to take another chance?

He ached to take her. To pick her up and ravish her. Fuck her. But he wanted her to come on her own. Her wanted her to want him as much as he wanted her. And he needed her to prove it.

This was a pretty short story which doesn't leave a whole lotta time for character development, but that doesn't stop the author from giving us exactly what we need to fall in love with these people. My only real issue was the very large presence of insta-love. Insta-love is one of my biggest pet peeves, it kinda drives me batshit crazy; I personally need some build-up and you just don't get that here. However, there was enough angst and drama to hold me over, the writing had a nice flow, and the characters were pretty amazing; everyone should have a boss like Bud at some point in their lives. Short, sweet, and sexy with plenty of room for more. I'm very curious to see what happens next at Bud's Diner.

It's not about whether or not you believe in love. It's all about whether or not you have the right person to love. When you find him, never give him up. The moments you spend with him, and the memories you'll have, will outweigh more than any of the pain you may have had by loving the wrong person.”
