Blog Tour Stop & Giveaway ~ Dark Indiscretions Series by Shakuita Johnson

Dark Indiscretions

What happens when your whole family is scarier than any nightmare and you have no desire to be anything like them? Do you stay and go along with the family plans or do you rebel and have them possibly turn their viciousness on you?

Jennifer Johnston experiences first hand why whispers are spoken in the dark about her species being evil when she was just a century old. What should have been another family dinner spent arguing over why she didn’t want to keep the bloodlines “pure” by being married off to her older brother turned into a nightmare and left her with more than tortured memories.

Jackson Dawls and Taylor Durham had been pack mates, best friends, and the other’s mate for as long as they could remember. They were a deadly species all their own but even they feared the Mystics and their overly cruel and barbaric ways, but unforeseen circumstances bring them face to face with not one but a few. Will there lives be in danger or is something great and unexpected awaiting them?

They also have to stay under the radar of the human society that is set out to destroy those they believe to be “Tarnished” and a danger to mankind.

When the three meet long ago secrets are brought to the light. Secrets no one but Jennifer knew. Not only do they have to learn to get along with each other because they are fated, someone is also stalking Jennifer and preforming sinister acts without her being any the wiser.

Jennifer must seek guidance from old acquaintances and form alliances with those she never thought she would. She is met with riddles and startling revelations that she never would have imagined possible.

Will they accept their fates and work together or will old fears destroy their lives? Will Jennifer be able to reclaim what was taken from her right from under her nose?

The smell of sex was definitely in the air, and already Jenny's heart was pumping. She could hear the blood calling to her from the veins of all the humans present at Heaven's Angles. Stupid humans didn't know they were in a bar full of killers. Not her problem. Just because she wasn't as bloodthirsty as some didn't mean she still didn't need her fix. She didn't have a death wish. She still needed the occasional sip of blood to survive. She blamed it on her dual nature. Whatever; she would just take what was needed and be on her way. She spotted a cute little couple that was probably in their early twenties. They would do. All she had to do was turn on the charm a bit and they would take her home. She would have a little snack with her sex. Take care of both problems at once.

She walked over with her body's calling powers in full effect to start the subtle seduction. She loved the thrill of the power running through her veins. She didn't give in to her body's demands very often but when she did she relished in it. She felt nothing; “regret” and “remorse” were just words in a dictionary when she felt her Mystic nature rising to the surface. She was in full predator mode. Now it was time to catch her prey.

Perfect. Someone was coming out the back door. Now, as his soon-to-be bride hunted, he would do the same. Poor sap wasn't even going to see it coming. He moved faster than the human eye could perceive and dragged his prey to the dark corner. Fear was thick in the air. Good, he loved it when they were scared. He looked his prey over. A cute little twink, slim, lean muscles, spiky blond hair, loads of mascara, and cute lips. Mm, he would do nicely. He took his knife out his back pocket and made a tiny slit below his prey's collarbone.

"That's right sweetie. Squirm for me. Just makes it more exciting. Maybe I'll fuck you while I drain you. Make it that much sweeter."

Jenny had made it to her mark. Their eyes immediately darted toward hers. "Mm, aren’t you both adorable. Are you guys up for a little fun tonight? I promise you won't be disappointed."

She was ready to go. She could already feel her fangs trying to bust out of her gums. She needed to get them out of here like five minutes ago.

"We're always up for some fun," the female purred at her.

Her boyfriend just nodded his head in agreement.

"Our place isn't too far from the club. If you're ready we can leave now. It's just me and Jim tonight, so we don't have to say any goodbyes."

That's fucking perfect, Jenny thought. She made sure to use her powers of concealment on any witnesses who might have seen her leaving with the couple, just in case. You could never be too fucking careful, especially since the Mooyers. She didn't need their bullshit in her life.

Well, it seems like his Jenny found herself a nice couple to fuck and suck. He loved it when she fed
her Mystic. It gave him hope that she wouldn't fight him too much. Having finished with his prey, he
discarded the useless body. He then made sure to use his magic to remove all evidence that he had
been there. Any human or other who got any bright ideas would think that there was a serial killer
running rampant Even the two little holes in his neck where gone. Usually after a kill, he would at
least try to move the body, but he didn't have that kind of time right now. His prey was getting away
and he didn't like her out of his sight for too long.

The Mystics were what people liked to refer to as evil reincarnated. They felt no remorse. They killed without prejudice. Well they all did, at least until she was born. She just couldn't be like the rest of them. They were ruthless, inhuman creatures that cared little for things that they deemed weren't worthy in their eyes. She didn't want to be one; it disgusted her that she had no choice. But that was what she was. What she was born to be.

~Jennifer Johnston is a Mystic and she hates it. She is nothing like the cold-blooded, in-bred killers of her kind and does what has to be done to remove herself from her family; but not before suffering their wrath and some hefty consequences. Now, centuries later, she remains hidden from other Mystics and lives her life how she wants to. She's happy, but lonely; hopes of finding her Nyhiya, her true soul mate, seems more unlikely with each passing year. When Jennifer wakes up surrounded by blood and the mutilated bodies of her most recent escapades, with no recollection of what happened, her quest for help takes a turn she never expects.

This redhead was somehow their mate. Oh hell fucking no! He was not mating with a Mystic, especially one that was a woman. What the hell were they supposed to do with a woman?

~Jackson Dawls & Taylor Durham are best friends, pack mates, and lovers; they discovered they were each others Nyhiya's early on in life and have been blissfully happy ever since. They very last thing they ever expected to discover when approached by their alpha for help was a third Nyhiya; a woman and a Mystic. They are less than thrilled and want nothing to do with their new mate; Mystic's are notoriously dangerous and deadly, a complication they don't want to mix into their current relationship. But try as they might, they cannot fight the pull they feel to protect what's theirs when it becomes clear a sadistic killer is stalking Jenny with deadly intentions.

When she imagined meeting her Nyhiya, she never would have seen this. She considered herself lucky to have met them. She would kill for them. She didn't care if it made her tap into every Mystic power she had. She would be like her kind even though she hated what they were.

I had some trouble connecting with the characters for awhile, but the story itself was interesting and unique enough-packed with all kinds of action-that it held my attention long enough to fully invest me into the story. Venturing into new, completely unknown territory can often result in some initial confusion, but the author explained things quite nicely without bogging me down with details and kept the story flowing. It didn't end with a cliffhanger per say, but it was clear there is much more to the story and I'm very interested to see where this series takes me next.

Dark Indiscretions: Monster Unleashed

What would you do if the one fate chose for you vanished into thin air? What would you give up? Who would you become to stay with that person?

Krista Bell Johnston finally knows what it's like to be free. The torture she endured at the hands of her psychotic father has unleashed the monster her mother tried so hard to help her suppress. The only thing she wants to do is be the shadow in the night that everyone is afraid of.

Taser “Taz” Jameson is barely holding it together. He lost Kris once to her father and now he's losing her to the monster she is becoming. He's also barely containing his own monster since Krista decided she didn't need her mates anymore. Nathan is still near but he may not be enough.

Nathan Brimming, Jr. is on the verge of losing not one but both of his mates. One vanished without a trace. The other is avoiding him. He has run out of patience with them both.

But when the monster that Krista has become comes to them with a proposal; will they take her up on it and possibly lose themselves or will they try to talk her down and get the beast to put back on her chain?

“About damn time!” Jennifer yelled from the backseat. She quickly exited the car before Jackson could respond. She needed to see her daughter. Jennifer walked as quickly as her escalating pregnancy would allow her. Her steps faltered when she heard the heart-piercing howl of a Dylia, a howl that could only mean someone was in serious pain. Before she knew it, Jackson was right beside her and holding her by her elbow. She didn’t say a word.

“Do not leave my side. Something is wrong with Taser. I would know that damn howl anywhere,” Jackson said.

They made their way into the compound and Jackson questioned the first wolf he saw, which happened to be one of the triplets, Bane. He wasted no time in the questioning.

“What in the hell is going on around here? Why does your Alpha sound like someone just shot him in his balls?” Jackson inquired.

“It would seem that the Alpha Mate has vanished. Poof, without a trace. She did so right in front of both her mates. Nathan is just standing there boiling mad, while the Alpha won’t stop howling and running circles around Nathan. He also growls at anyone who gets too close to either of them. I was on my way to call you and Taylor when I ran into you,” Bane explained.

“What in the hell do you mean vanished?” Jennifer screeched.

“Poof,” was all Bane said in answer and walked away, leaving Jennifer screaming every unpleasant word she could think of to his retreating form.

This could not be his life right now. This shit could not be happening. He was in the Twilight Zone. Yep. That had to be it. No other explanation. He was going to wake up any moment from this cluster-fuck of a situation. He had to wake up. He wouldn’t accept any other option, but as he looked at the face of his Nyhyia, he knew that shit was long past ever happening. He should have fucking let Taylor drive her.

She should talk to her mother and figure out a way to put the beast back in it's cage, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to cage it again. Maybe it's best to let it free. Her kind were never meant to be caged like an animal in the first place. That wasn't the person she was or could ever be. She was a killer, stone cold, without remorse. She only curbed the urges for her mother's sake.

Just when you thought the series couldn't get any more rough and tumble, Jenny's daughter takes a turn no one expected.

~Krista Bell may have survived the agonizing torture suffered at the hands of her sadistic father, but it has unleashed her monster within. For centuries she has been taught how to keep the monster chained, and now that it's free she has never felt more alive or in control. She does what she wants when she wants, answers to no one, and allows her darkest hunger to rule her; she has turned into someone completely unrecognizable to those who care about her the most, leaving her mates with a choice to make.

~Nathan can feel his mates slipping from his grasp and doesn't know what to do about it. Krista is turning into a monster and the situation is causing Taser to lose control of his wolf, slipping further away by the hour. He has a choice to make, along with Taser, where their Nyhiya is concerned; do they accept the woman she has become, knowing they have to allow their own inner-monsters to break free to be with her, or do they turn their backs on her? How much are they willing to sacrifice to be with their one true mate as she raises hell on earth?

Taylor, we need to find Jennifer.”
they walked downstairs and out the door to the car. Taylor called Jenny on their way home and told her they were on their way. Her first-born had taken a wrong turn into destructive village and stopped on bat-shit crazy avenue. They needed a game plan.

I have to admit- I absolutely hated Krista in this book. The turning evil part I could have handled and even understood... mostly, but to make matters worse- she turns into an all out bitch. She was horrible to those who have done nothing but love and care for her, going so far as to threaten their lives. Her treatment of her mates was just plain vile, yet she has the nerve to be annoyed with them for getting angry at her-and she loses her shit when they get frisky with each other without her. I mean really bitch-why in the hell would they wanna touch you at that point?! You are not the holy grail of pussy- you cannot suddenly treat people like garbage and still expect them to drool at your feet when you decide to grace them with your presence. But hey-props to the author for getting me so damn worked up over a fictional character! This series has definitely caught my attention and after the way this one ended-I'm dying to see where it takes us next.

Destruction. Devastation. Horrors untold and unparalleled to anything you've ever seen. Blood and tears. Rebirth and old fears rising from the depths of hell. A monster awake from her slumber. Strengthened by pain and torture. Dealt out from one who is already broken. The cycle has been altered. Possibly beyond repair.”
