What happened while Semya Slotin and Josh Heinz were busy solving Johanna Cartier's murder in Bird Of Prey?
Polliannah's story... When Polliannah Koch Guryev meets John Allen, she thinks that she's finally found her Prince Charming a tall, blond and handsome banker. What could go wrong?
John Allen has a job to do and getting closer to the beautiful Miss Koch Guryev is supposed to be a means to an end. But then they fall in love. He's a hit man on a mission, she's the sister of his targets. What possible future could they have? Now he and his Russian Princess have to leave London for their safety. But it may already be too late for them…
Polliannah looked at her wedding ring. She was alone in her big, king size bed. Technically it was still her honeymoon. Technically John Allen was her husband. And she still loved him… God help her but she did. It said a lot about her and her choice of men. Now are you going to spend the rest of the night debating how mentally disturbed you might be or are you going to get your husband off the sofa, Pollinaska?
She left the bedroom and walked to the living room sofa. She stopped a couple of meters away. If she came too close he might think she was a threat and do something rather reckless. That was how much she knew about their world. “John,” she softly called out.
He opened his eyes right away. “What’s wrong?” He sat up right away adjusting his view in the dark.
“Come to bed, Mr. Allen,” she told him.
He didn’t say a thing back. He just got up and followed her inside and put his gun on the night table. She quietly removed his shirt and unzipped his pants. Once he stood completely naked before her, she took off her nightdress and guided him back to bed. “Polli, we don’t have to.”
“Yes we do. You don’t want to keep me anymore?” she asked him.
“You know I do but–” She put her finger on his lips.
“We will figure it out then,” she said before kissing him. They both gently fell on the bed still passionately kissing. “I want to keep you too,” she whispered against his lips.
He groaned back but tenderly explored her body with his hands and his mouth, “You are my salvation,” he moaned.
She trembled, she moaned. She could feel his love and she didn’t want to let go of it. Why couldn’t she have a happy ending too? What was so wrong with her? Nobody was perfect. He was no better or worse than her brothers. We will find a way… She tackled him onto the bed and slowly took him inside her. There were no more lies, no more secrets between them, they were completely naked. She started to move and didn’t stop until her whole body imploded and escaped through each of its cell.
He felt it too, she could tell. He slowly rose up to kiss her, “We’ll find a way,” he mumbled before starting to make her move again.

That should have made him happy. The fact that she could fit in his world should have been the best news but it wasn't. She deserved more. She and Sémya had been running away from this life, he had no right throwing her back in it.
Ever wonder what Polliannah was getting up to with the elusive John Allen while Sémya & Josh were busy trying to solve a murder in 'Bird of Prey'? Well now we get to find out! This is her story of how she met and fell in love with the hit-man hired to find and take down her brothers. Only she didn't realize that's what he was at first. She fell in love with a 'banker' who treated her like a princess, her own Prince Charming, never knowing he knew everything about her and her roots in the mafia. What happens when the truth come out? Will it be to late for Polliannah and is she safe? And who was responsible for John's death??
“I'm officially with a man with a real day job, no offense. He has a wild side though... thank God!” she said and blushed. John was all kinds of wild, rough, tender and sweet at the same time. And he loved her.
This novella left me with more questions than I had at the end of Bird of Prey. The mystery surrounding Josh just gets thicker and darker by the minute and I am dying to figure him out and what it all means for Sémya. I am also incredibly sad for Polliannah, to have finally found someone she can be herself with, her real self, even considering the deception they started under, just to lose him the way she did was just....sad. I am also getting a little more used to the authors writing style and as a result am enjoying myself much more easily. These characters have my full attention now and I cannot wait to see what they do with it.
“I didn't know how unsatisfied I was with my life before I met you. You're my salvation... let me be the better man you're making me every time you look at me. I'll die before I let them hurt you in any way”
