Miranda “Rand” Coleman has seen the way love can wreck a person and wants absolutely no part of it. When her granddaddy dies suddenly, he leaves a clause in his will that has her married in three months or she loses her inheritance. Unwilling to give up the Double C Ranch, she starts to set her eyes towards the eligible men in town, with little luck in finding a man she can stand for a minute let alone a year. Until she sets eyes on the new veterinarian and enlists the help of her womanizing best friend, Jake, to help.

Jake Hansen is a single guy who likes his women pretty and uncomplicated, with no plans to settle down anytime soon. When he decides to help Rand hook her man, he has no idea the effect watching Rand change would have on him. Especially when she starts letting her gorgeous brown hair down and showing off a body he didn’t even know she had. Before too long, Jake isn’t just lusting after his best friend, he’s feeling downright possessive. But when it comes down to the wire, will he get over his issues and step up to the alter…or lose the only woman he was ever meant to love?

Just because she wasn't interested in men didn't mean she couldn't appreciate a pretty face, but the one large drawback to Jake was his tom-catting ways. Not that she was interested in women; she just didn't want any romantic entanglements. Romance lead to falling in love which lead to crying and heart ache.

That. Was. Fantastic!! So much fun, but sweet, with a dash of angst, just enough drama, and smokin' hott Texas steam- I loved it, every last minute of it. From the tom-boy who learns to embrace her femininity, to the crotchety old man everyone in town is kinda afraid of but is wrapped around the finger of said tom-boy, and who doesn't love the whole 'best friends finally waking up and seeing what has been staring them in their faces all this time' angle, with the added bonus of grandpa playing matchmaker from the grave. Really, whats not to love about all that?!

Don't worry about Jay. By tomorrow, he'll be eating out of the palm of your hand.”
Thanks Jake. For all of this. You're a really good friend.”
as she walked inside, Jake had the sudden urge to beat his fool head against the wood of the door jam.

Miranda (Rand) Coleman has seen with her own eyes, at a very young age exactly what love can do to a person, thanks to her father. She has no desire to follow in her mothers footsteps and so avoids romantic entanglements like the plague. But when her grandfather passes away, leaving her their family owned ranch in his will, he has added a stipulation that may just blow those plans out of the water. She has three months to marry, or lose ownership of the Double C Ranch and she will do whatever it takes to keep that from happening. The problem- Rand is, and has always been, kind of a tom-boy with no idea how to attract the attention of a man. Her sights are set on the towns new veterinarian and she enlists the help of her best friend Jake, a known player, to help her shed her tom-boy ways and teach her all about what will get her noticed.
Jake Hansen has been best friends with Rand for twenty years and has always seen her as one of the guys. But when she starts to blossom into a full blown, beautiful woman right before his eyes and showing off a body he never realized she was hiding, he finds himself having some very inappropriate thoughts about his best friend. The feelings of jealousy and possessiveness are as unexpected as they are terrifying and he has no idea what to do about it. He has no desire to get involved in a relationship that goes beyond sex but if he doesn't step up and fill the role that Rand needs, he may just lose any chance he has with her forever. Time is not on their side and with more than their longtime friendship at risk can they cross that line?

He had almost kissed Rand, in from of Red, and he wanted to go back. Go back to before he noticed that Rand had a pretty smile and nice legs. Before the feel of he body pressed against his was seared into his brain.

Right from the start, this book had a solid hold on my attention. It was sad to see that Rand really didn't think she was anything special, and beautiful to watch Jake show her just how beautiful she was. With so many wonderful secondary characters -Red was just AhMazing, Tabby & Jamie cracked me up and Earl was friggin hilarious- it really was impossible to put this book down. I love that this is just book one in a series and I cannot wait to see where this fantastic author takes us next. I'm very much looking forward to returning to Loco Texas many many times in the future.

I came out here to tell you...you make me crazy.”
She blinked at him. Several times. Then she exploded again.
I make you crazy? I make you crazy? No, you make me crazy! You with your mixed signals and commitment issues and-”
“Make me crazy. Make me nuts! I don't care as long as you're here. With me.”
