Is it 'Something Great'? I think YES!

Something Great
Author: M. Clarke

* This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+ due to sexual content and mature subject matter.

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.

Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He was everything Jeanella didn’t need in her life. Only Maxwell didn’t see it that way. His pursuit was relentless, making her even more determined to push him away.

Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before—dangerous, heart pounding and breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Maxwell, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, smooth words and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, her mind was utterly consumed by him. Would she be willing to ignore all the dangerous signs and jump into his arms? Or would she miss out on the chance of finding something great?

Laura's Review:

This book is truly the metaphor of taking the road less traveled. What happens when your inner self is dying to explore that less traveled road but your conscience is telling you no!  For this coming of age novel, Jenna is a shy and insecure young woman who is afraid of following her emotions and prefers to take the safe route. The road that has all of the signs, all of the lights, and familiarity she seeks.

When you read this, you see how her insecurities play a vital role in all of her decisions and even on how she communicates. She was not the typical young woman with experience of life and love. The one time she allowed herself to fall for the bad boy—he shattered her heart. When she starts dating Luke, she quickly realizes that he is “safe” but when a chance encounter with a stranger leaves her stunned, she knows immediately that he was exactly the opposite of Luke.

When fate intervenes; it forces this stranger and Jenna’s paths to cross. Jenna immediately tries to push away his advances even though her body is humming with attraction and desire she had never experienced. Her insecurities and fear of hurting Luke forces her to avoid contact with this stranger but once again fate has other plans and she allows herself a moment of weakness where they befriend each other.  She finds out that Maxwell, or Max to his friends, finds Jenna’s innocence endearing and refreshing and is immediately attracted.

The tenderness between Max and Jenna is a breath of fresh air because you quickly realize you wish more guys were this sweet and sexy. He knows immediately that Jenna is Something Great, but will Jenna allow her self Something Wonderful and will she let herself fall for Max? You will have to read to find out, but ask yourself this. Would you stay will a man who can teach you to read the music of your soul or will you be with the man who will make your soul sing in perfect harmony with his?

In the end the question remained, will Jenna’s inexperience, insecurities, and fears force her to travel the safe route with Luke or will she travel the road less traveled with Max?
